Direction 1: cleaning products

Here I will refer again to Raffa's blog http://raffa.grandmenage.info/

I have also found a few interesting books on the subject:
  • Household Cleaning (Self-sufficiency) by Rachel Strauss

  • Homemade by Reader's Digest

  • Precycle! by Paul Peacock

  • Speed Cleaning by Shannon Fleming & Jennifer Lush

  • The Natural House Book by David Pearson

So far, I have used bicarb and vinegar to clear the sink's plug hole, and made my own furniture polish spray, super-tough scouring paste and multi-purpose disinfecting cleaner with a fabulous lavender smell, following Raffa's recipes. I've added 12 golf balls in the washing machine drum, to beat the dirt out. We do NOT use bleach.

In the pipeline:
  • testing a sample of soap nut shells,
  • making my own toilet cleaner,
  • cream cleaner,
  • laundry gloop and
  • dishwasher powder.
