I have also found a few interesting books on the subject:
- Household Cleaning (Self-sufficiency) by Rachel Strauss
- Homemade by Reader's Digest
- Precycle! by Paul Peacock
- Speed Cleaning by Shannon Fleming & Jennifer Lush
- The Natural House Book by David Pearson
So far, I have used bicarb and vinegar to clear the sink's plug hole, and made my own furniture polish spray, super-tough scouring paste and multi-purpose disinfecting cleaner with a fabulous lavender smell, following Raffa's recipes. I've added 12 golf balls in the washing machine drum, to beat the dirt out. We do NOT use bleach.
In the pipeline:
- testing a sample of soap nut shells,
- making my own toilet cleaner,
- cream cleaner,
- laundry gloop and
- dishwasher powder.
